Professional statement

Josh is a Licensed Master Social Worker based in Flagstaff and Sedona, AZ and earned his Master’s degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis where he gained experience working at the St. Louis Veterans Affairs Hospital and local school settings. His prior work as a wilderness therapy guide in Southwestern Utah informs his ability to bring deep and transformational energy to the therapy space. Josh has spent significant time living and working in remote rural parts of the world and has been trained in various styles of meditation and energy work during his travels in Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, as well as Central and South America. Josh excels at supporting client's managing life transitions, relational stress, and living a life of sacred purpose.

Josh utilizes evidence based mental health interventions such as CBT and IFS along with somatic techniques (meditation, breathwork, parts work) to facilitate experiences of inner peace and a greater ability to take aligned action. Josh also offers tremendous insight around fostering healthy and connected relationships. Josh believes healthy connection is a cornerstone to mental well being, and draws from the Relational Cultural Therapy model to provide clients with opportunities and tools to manifest and sustain vibrant relationships in their lives.

This is a supervised private practice. It is owned and/or managed by a master’s level, non-independent licensee under Board-approved clinical supervision pursuant to A.A.C. R4-6-211. The Board-approved clinical supervisor of this practice is:

Message to clients

My aim is to help you access your own ability to heal. I am here as a guide to support you in reconnecting with your most authentic Self. I believe every part of you is good, and that by attending to these parts we can support a more harmonized and balanced inner system. An inner system that's supported by compassion, curiosity, and warmth. I will support you as you befriend all parts of yourself, build meaningful relationships, heal wounds, resolve trauma, and create sustained and lasting change in your life.

I believe the human being is like an instrument that can heal itself as long as it's in tune. Many of us get stuck in emotional and mental 'debris fields,' that keeps us out of resonance with our true nature. We often pick up unhelpful cogntiive narratives from our childhood, which are compounded by a society that places material value over spiritual, emotional, and mental well being. Once we clear away some of this debris and change our cognitive stories to ones more aligned with the universe, immense and radical healing follows organically.

I bring unique experience , rigorous mental health training, and a balanced, heart-centered nervous system to our healing space. Your body knows how to heal itself. My job is to create the proper environment and therapeutic connection to allow this to happen. Our work together is supported by an authentic and safe container.
