Juanita Ratner is a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with individuals and couples around a variety of life issues and experiences. Areas she works with include relationship issues, anxiety, panic attacks, self esteem, personal growth, life changes, depression, women's issues, stress, LGBTQ and sexual orientation issues, meditation and relaxation, spiritual searches, life transitions, and the quest for self-knowledge. Rather than having one particular approach or technique, she blends methods and approaches of many modalities as needed: integrative, depth, existential-humanistic, family systems, cognitive-behavioral, developmental, awareness-based, and psychodynamic. She has training in dream work and depth psychological practices. In addition, as part of her holistic approach she can offer referrals to excellent local alternative and complementary medical professionals.
Dr. Ratner maintains an office located in the Capitol Hill area of Denver. The office is in a healing center offering many other modalities as well, with an access ramp and an elevator. Online sessions are available as well.
Juanita's presentations include Counseling as Soul Work;Thawing the Deep Freeze--Understanding and Treating the Dynamics of Trauma; Poetry in Psychotherapy; and Presence in the Psychology Encounter. Her publications have appeared in The Journal of Humanistic Psychology, The Encyclopedia of Personality and Individual Differences, and The Encyclopedia of Psychology and Religion. She has self-published her anthology of poems about personal growth and integration: Searching for My Real Self, which she shares from with clients on occasion if she feels it would be helpful.
The uniqueness of Juanita's approach is her combination of insight, presence, caring, understanding of human nature, wisdom of how to become free from past hurts and self-defeating patterns in a non-violent, integrative way. Clients often seem to just "get better" in a way that feels whole and natural.
