Professional statement

Julia works in Pasadena, California in a private practice she calls Walk It Out Therapy. She is a firm believer in the body and mind being connected and therefore walking and talking is her way of conducting sessions. How fun to be outside! If walking isn't for you, she also conducts telehealth sessions. She is available Monday-Friday for walking sessions or telehealth sessions, 8am-6pm.

Primary clientele are college age to adult women experiencing disordered eating, body image dissatisfaction, low self-esteem, anxiety, or general trouble adjusting to life transitions. In college and just out of college Julia dealt with her own eating disorder and panic disorder, which led her to find a therapist that changed her life and in turn Julia set out to become that person for someone else.

With her own personal experience as well as schooling and training, Julia uses an eclectic approach to treatment. She practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and incorporate concepts from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Mindfulness training. Because the body and mind are so connected, she'll often ask you to check in with how your body feels at certain times during a session. She likes to give you tangible tools to take away and build up your own kit of coping skills for life beyond therapy.

She has previously worked as a therapist an adolescent group home, a comprehensive DBT practice, a high school, and has led anger management groups. While doing all of that she was building her practice and is now thriving as she gets to connect with so many women and help them rebuild and restore their health and happiness.

Message to clients

It's so important to connect with your therapist. I take so much joy in connecting with others and allow you a safe, comfortable space to be vulnerable in. I'm human too, so I like to laugh with you and cry with you. I want therapy to be a positive experience and work hard to collaborate with you on your treatment goals and keep the lines of communication open about what you are liking or disliking about our time together.

It is my job but also my privilege to connect with you and form a therapeutic relationship that you feel like you can be yourself in. I have a no judgment zone policy, as I am not here to do that, but only to listen, empathize, and educate in the hopes that you leave therapy with more self awareness, confidence, and coping skills. Can't wait to meet you!
