Julia Marcus Paul is an associate marriage and family therapist online in Los Angeles. She works with all populations across the lifespan. Some of Julia’s clients enter therapy to address suicide ideation, rage, self mutilation, grief and loss after suffering a death or a relational loss.
Julia is trained in Psychoanalytic therapy and Contextual Family Therapy. Clients understand themselves often for the first time. They learn why they feel suffering and can develop tools to change their thoughts, negative self patterns and behaviors. Learning and utilizing new techniques in therapy which offer self awareness, self protection and self worth. In session, Julia focuses on listening to her clients and offering direction to improve ones' self image and self love.
Julia's style is engaging, direct, kind and thoughtful. When clients first start therapy she explains limits to confidentiality and spends time learning the presenting issue for seeking therapy and the biological and psychological history behind the individual.
Julia received their MFT from Hahnemann University in 1996 and a post masters in addiction therapy from Rosemont College in 2012. Julia currently is registered the Board of Behavioral Sciences in Sacramento as an AMFT. She has worked at Hospice Compassus proving end of life care to dying patients and has had other psychiatric positions providing inpatient and outpatient therapeutic services. Outside of private practice she plays with her standard poodle Saint and spends quality time with her daughter and future son in law. Sliding scale is provided if necessary.
