Professional statement

Juliann Curabba is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in private practice. Juliann provides teletherapy to adults (ages 24-70) in New York and California via zoom or phone (after an initial period of zoom sessions).

Juliann worked in the mental health field in NY and CA for over 25 years before starting her private practice. Juliann has led small to large agencies and is well versed on the challenges clients and staff face in these settings. She worked hard to ensure services were ethical, diverse and thoughtful and that her staff were appreciated. One thing in particular Juliann loved about this work was meeting people from all over the world, and learning about them and their culture. She also loves mentoring staff. She realized she could do the things she loves 100% of time by starting a private practice.

Juliann received a masters degree in Social Work (MSW) and Guidance Counseling (MSEd) from Hunter College in NYC. Juliann has a certificate in Non Profit Executive Management from NYU and is SIFI certified by Fordham. Juliann has been trained in multiple evidenced based practices. She has attended two years of advanced psychotherapy training at top institutes in NY, as well as seminars and trainings, and is currently a candidate at the Westchester Center for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.

Juliann's approach is based on a relational approach that takes into account the whole person - gender, culture, sexuality, social, etc. Juliann works best with those interested in insight oriented therapy and those that understand that therapy is a process that takes time. Juliann provides at a minimum, one 50 minute session per week. Career counseling sessions will be discussed at consultation.

Message to clients

Hello, I believe finding a therapist you connect with, is the most important part of therapy. That being said, it feels a lot like dating, doesn't it? I can promise you, being in therapy myself, that it is well worth the anxiety. Most people find that I help them to feel comfortable pretty quickly. I truly believe that you are the expert of you and your life. My job is to get to know you so I can help you find the answers you are looking for. I do this by being curious and asking a lot of questions. I am involved in our sessions and I think you will find that I really do care about helping you.

I have lived in NYC, Westchester, Orange County, CA, San Diego, San Francisco and LA. This has allowed me the opportunity to work with many diverse people from all over the world. I believe this has helped me to be someone who truly understands people from all walks of life. I love meeting new people and learning from each one.
