Julie practiced as a child and family therapist and also as a registered play therapist in Minnesota. Julie uses an integrative model to support parents which includes education on child development, the child's brain, impacts of the family system on the child, infant and early childhood mental health, parenting with consciousness and intention, and understanding your child's point of view and emotional needs.

Julie Whitford enjoys working with parents who are ready to put in the work, invested in their children and parenting, and who have some level of self-awareness.

Message to clients

A big welcome to you if you're an expecting parent, a new parent, even a third time parent, or a cycle breaker proud to be ending certain generational patterns of parenting! If you've found me I'm assuming you're looking for a little or a lot of guidance and support with your parenting. I'm your person whether it's learning everything you can about infant mental health and attachment before your baby arrives, you need help navigating tantrums, backtalk or separations, or you want to obtain a firm foundation of parenting with intention and consciousness, the kind of foundation that promotes good mental health in your children that transcends into adulthood. Of course, parenting tips and tricks are covered, though I believe these are the icing on the cake, the cake being a solid foundation based on respect, love, and the putting the parent-child relationship first.

My hope for you is to have a newfound lens to see your child which provides a better understanding, compassion and empathy as well as a stronger parent-child relationship, and a more peaceful and calmer home.
