Professional statement

Julie Whitford, MA, LPCC is a licensed clinician, child and family therapist, who offers parent coaching specializing in working with parents of children Birth through age 8. Children develop and grow within the context of the parent-child relationship and the family system. A child's parents and other caregivers' capacity to self-reflect, their presence, responses and parenting styles influence their children on the daily. Julie can help you identify patterns in your parenting that are not conducive to your developing child and teach you alternative ways of thinking and being with your children. Julie conducts her parent coaching sessions via Zoom from her home office in Woodbury, MN under the business name Julie Recommends, LLC.

Julie uses her 20 years of professional and personal experience gained from her work as a child/family therapist, childcare settings, social services, and being a conscious parent herself of two young children. Julie uses an integrative approach to support parents which includes education on child development, the brain, impacts of the family system on the child, infant and early childhood mental health, parenting with consciousness and intention, and understanding your child's point of view and emotional needs.

Julie Whitford enjoys working with parents who are ready to put in the work and learn, invested in their children and parenting, who have some level of self-awareness, and/or who consider themselves cycle breakers.

Message to clients

A big welcome to you if you're an expecting parent, a new parent, even a third time parent! If you've found me I'm assuming you're looking for a little or a lot of guidance and support with your children. Whether it's learning everything you can on bonding and supporting the emotional needs of your baby before your baby arrives, or you need help navigating tantrums, backtalk or separations, or you want to obtain more knowledge of what it looks like to parent with intention and consciousness. Of course, parenting tips and tricks are covered, though I believe these are the icing on the cake, the cake being a solid foundation based out of mutural respect, love, and the putting the parent-child relationship first.

My hope for you is to have a newfound lens to see your child which provides a better understanding, compassion and empathy as well as a stronger parent-child relationship, and a more peaceful and calmer home.

Call for a free 15 minute consult. If you know you're ready, head to my scheduling site and schedule a session or choose from two packages where you will save money per session. It really all depends on your family goals and whether you desire a little or a lot of support.
