Licensed Master Social Worker, LMSW Specialties • Insurance & Fees • LocationsKamaria Excell is a Black Queer Feminist, Doula, and Social Worker with a decade of experience in community engagement, violence prevention, and reproductive justice work.
Originally from Los Angeles, California, she credits her arts-based lens to the vibrancy of South Central LA. Kamaria's diverse work and lived experiences have equipped her with the skills to adequately create an affirming space that allows clients to dig deeper into themes related to healing from both interpersonal trauma and systems of oppression. Having been trained in Black Feminist Theory and Praxis at Spelman College and Clinical Social Work at Columbia University, she is sincerely invested in making a lasting impact through the mobilization of decolonial practices in fighting for the abolishment of structural and systemic barriers to equity for BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities, both inside and outside the therapeutic space. Given her social identities she practices from an abolitionist lens and rootedness in the Diaspora.
Kamaria is the founder of Kitchen Counter Social Work (KCSW) a space dedicated to supporting BIPOC women, femmes, & non binary folks in cultivating a life of embodiment, pleasure, and joy. By weaving together storytelling, embodied knowledge discourse, Black Feminisms, radical world making, somatics, and psychotherapy, KCSW addresses the impacts of systems of oppression and interpersonal trauma. Kamaria has a very rich and nuanced history of working with folks navigating the intersections of race, class, gender, sexuality, disability, and other marginalized markers of identity which supports her in practicing and embodying this work.
