Karen Hutchins is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor located in Saint Cloud, MN. Karen helps clients to connect with their inner selves on a deeper level, a level where they can recognize their strengths and feel whole again. Many of Karen’s clients feel anxiety or depression as a result of grief, trauma, or other difficult experiences. While her clients get through their daily routines without issue, they often go to sleep feeling unfulfilled or disengaged. Karen helps these clients find joy and meaning.
Karen’s approach to therapy draws heavily from evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy modalities. She recognizes the importance of building a safe atmosphere in each therapy session where clients feel secure and comfortable talking about their feelings. For clients who feel stuck in painful memories, she offers Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help them move past those blocks. She also practices Mindfulness-based therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to teach clients skills in emotional regulation and healthy thought patterns.
Karen previously worked in computer science, however has always had a passion for psychology. She taught psychology for many years before becoming a clinician herself. Her goal is to help clients see that they are strong and resilient and to give them a space to compassionately explore their inner worlds.
