Kary Efstratis Chendo
She/Her/Hers
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, AMFT Master of Arts, MAShe/Her/Hers
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, AMFT Master of Arts, MAKary is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, providing psychotherapy with a Depth Psychological orientation. Kary works virtually and in-person, with young adult and adult individuals, and couples.
Kary’s focus is helping both couples and individuals relate in a healthier, more satisfying way. She works to help her clients see their lives more symbolically in order to develop a stronger sense of self, so they are better able to navigate their relationships with others in all facets of their lives.
Kary wrote her M.A. graduate thesis on the Alchemy of Human Relating, exploring in depth the psychological dynamics of romantic relationships as a pathway to individuation. Kary's thesis explored how romantic relationships, and specifically infidelity, can reveal one's unconscious shadow material, paving the way to stronger selfhood and even to psychological individuation.
Kary listens deeply for symbolic themes and patterns that can help bring into light what is unconscious and/or repressed in her clients. She works with dreams and archetypes, myth and metaphor, in order to help her clients see themselves and their lives in a deeper and more meaningful way.
Drawing on her training in Sex Therapy, Kary helps clients explore the Self through their sexuality, to find the deeper meaning at the root of their sexual patterns, preferences, resistances, and idiosyncrasies. Understanding this erotic energy can open a door into previously unconscious aspects of the psyche, which can lead to deeper emotional intimacy in relationships.
Whether you are single and focused on self development, or working through the quirks of a new relationship, or a break-up has left you heartbroken, or your existing relationship feels stagnant or strained, Kary can help you navigate the confusing and uncertain terrain of human relating.
