Professional statement

Karyn Resch Brackney is a Licensed Professional Counselor located in Lakewood, CO. Karyn is passionate about helping clients navigate the path towards feeling whole. She works with clients who suffer from the impacts of bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety. She also works with clients who find themselves overwhelmingly angry, confused, empty, or unfulfilled in their daily lives. Often, this results in feeling disconnected from others or conflict with loved ones.

Karyn’s approach to therapy brings together empathy and skill-building. Clients learn how to use coping skills to manage their emotions. Karyn teaches clients how to use these coping skills and how to raise self-awareness so that clients know when to enact their mental health tools. Karyn also teaches clients how to view their situations from different perspectives and practice self-compassion.

Karyn works with adults and adolescents. She has personal experience with mental health struggles, which allows her a deeper level of empathy for all clients. Her goal is to help clients resolve the conflicts they have with others and practice healthy habits that boost resilience.

Message to clients

One of the things I have come to believe through my work is that health comes through integration—the integration of our bodies and our minds, the integration of our past and our present, and the integration of our values and our actions. In my practice, I strive to help my clients experience deeper embodiment, listening to the wisdom their bodies have to offer about their emotions, goals, and relationships. I work toward integrating experiences of old wounds into present self-awareness and wholeness. And I find it important to help clients clarify their personal values in order to craft a life filled with meaning and satisfaction.

A session with me may involve somatic or cognitive skill-building to cope with bothersome symptoms, a little psychoeducation to help you better understand what’s happening in your mind and your body, questions and reflection, space to process past or recent events, a place of real human connection, and often a little humor. I have a flexible approach, balancing immediate needs—what’s happening in your life right now—with whatever overarching goals for therapy you’ve expressed. I want to collaborate with you on using your strengths and mine to get you to a better place.

I would love a chance to talk with you about your goals, needs, and hopes. Reach out, and we can schedule a phone consult!
