Professional statement

Kasey David is a multi-racial therapist and supervisor operating an exclusively virtual private practice in CA. Her specialty is individual treatment of Anxiety Disorders, with a BIPOC diversity and inclusion focus along with clinical supervision for graduate and pre-licensed professionals.

Kasey is honored to provide a holistic, person-centered, and evidence-based practice. With post-graduate continuing education from Cornell University and specialized training and consultation from the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety Disorders, Kasey is uniquely skilled in treating Perfectionism, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder, for dynamic and professional women of color in their mid 20s and 30s. Kasey is Body Positive and Vegan/Vegetarian allied.

The Cognitive Behavioral framework that guides therapy is complimented by Narrative Therapy and an exposition of underlying cultural messages. Kasey encourages clients to face their reality as it is, without distortion or shame by exercising more self-compassion. Using storytelling, challenging fear-based assumptions, excavating cultural messages, and recognizing self-sabotage, clients begin to make profound shifts in how they understand themselves and the way they interact with the world. After radically revisioning who they are, clients can take actions consistent with their authenticity and goals and not out of arbitrary comparison, threats to the identity, or social constructs.

Her clients often report that in addition to lower anxiety, byproducts of this type of therapy have been greater emotional connection and intimacy with others, fewer unsustainable habits, better ability to prioritize the essential, more satisfaction with professional efforts, and ability to live in the present.

As a seasoned telehealth provider, she offers virtual services to allow the greatest discretion, privacy, and access to high quality therapy. Clients are invited to schedule all appointments online through a self-service portal, complete all documentation electronically, and hold sessions in any location where privacy and confidentiality can be honored.

Message to clients

I am not a conventional or traditional woman. I'm awkward. Sometimes I swear and worry. I enjoy talking about sex, money, and the other "secret things". I wear pajamas during the day. Sometimes I eat my feelings. I am also more than what I can fit into this box! I love in-theater movies, eating vegetarian cuisine, coffee, and chocolate, travelling internationally, gardening fruits and vegetables, and being a Vegan/Vegetarian and Body Positive ally. Jokes are my friend and they help me soften my own inner critic because I am human.

The fit you between you and your therapist, should be strong because therapy is not just about what happens in one hour. It's about your ability to envision bringing your whole self and experiences back to somebody and trusting that they can hear everything you have to say. I define therapy as a high-trust, collaborative space, where we create that space--room for the mess, the reason, the raw, the real, the unfortunate, the gains, the promotions, the brags, the wisdom, all of it. After there is room for what is real and important, we decide that we want to take committed action. Commiting to actualizing our goals takes an empathic relationship where you can be both held accountable and encouraged to keep moving in the direction of change. The bravest thing we'll ever do is face reality as it is and determine, we are inherently worthy and take committed action anyway. I value you, you should too.
