She draws from her 12+ years of providing individual and group art therapy in institutional and community settings. Kate works collaboratively with her clients, using a range of modalities and creative practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, somatic informed therapy, eco art therapy and creative journaling, and is currently learning new skills in Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Kate has her MA in Creative Arts Therapy from Concordia University in Montreal Quebec. While in Montreal, she connected with the Art Hive movement and became a facilitator in art hives in Montreal and now in the US. Art hives are free community art studios open to all. Art hives help build connection and community through making together. She is passionate about social justice and draws from her experience facilitating in art hives, empowering communities and welcoming all, in her work with individuals.

Message to clients

Are you looking for meaning/purpose/connection in relationships, career, spirituality, or other life areas?

In my work I often think about connection, connecting to one's creative core or authentic self, interconnection, community connection, connection to services/resources, connecting to one's story or familial story or creating a new narrative, interpersonal connection, disconnecting when needed, mind/body reconnection, connecting to nature and wellness of our planet and how we nourish ourselves and others.

Many people I work with report feeling overwhelmed or stuck or in crisis due to trauma, loss/grief, chronic illness or disability, life transitions, lack of purpose or meaning /existential questioning, isolation, feeling disconnected from self or with others.

It’s my hope that our sessions together provide a place to practice new experiences with relationships and build up opportunities to connect with community.
