Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT Master of Education, MEd Master of Arts, MAKate Strolle is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working with clients remotely in California and Vermont. She works with individuals and couples. Many of Kate’s clients come to therapy to address life transitions, grief, loss, anxiety, and depression. Kate is particularly passionate about serving couples, young adults, and people trying to find balance in their lives. She has advanced training in the areas of grief, anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Kate provides therapy using a cognitive-behavioral modality. She also utilizes solution-focused therapy and emotionally focused couples therapy. She believes it is essential for clients to identify what is not working in their current situation and find new solutions to improve their lives. Strategies learned in therapy include learning to change responses to emotional triggers and stressors, learning healthy coping mechanisms, and recognizing faulty thinking. This approach supports clients in order to feel less anxious and overwhelmed, feel confident that they have a toolbox of coping strategies for stressful situations, and identify behaviors and patterns disrupting their lives.
Kate's style is safe, non-judgmental, and solution-focused. When clients first start therapy, she focuses on helping the client feel safe and heard. Additionally, she works to understand a client’s history and identify what the client is looking for during the therapeutic process. Then, she and the client set goals together to ensure that therapy is effective.
Kate received their M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco. She also has an M.Ed in Education. She has worked with local organizations providing therapy for people with a history of trauma and working with clients through Hospice who were coping with loss and grief. Outside of private practice, she is an avid skier and enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking, and travel. Currently, Kate is only offering remote therapy via phone and video.
