Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWShe/Her/Hers
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWKate Williams is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing online therapy services for highly driven adults who feel stuck in memories from past experiences, resulting in regret, guilt, and shame. Many of her clients feel like they should be “over” these past experiences and become frustrated with themselves, which can lead to low self-esteem or self-compassion. Other clients engage in constant worry, finding it difficult to be present. Kate helps these clients to get relief, heal, and move forward in the life they want to create.
Kate’s main approach to therapy is an evidence-based therapy modality called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. In EMDR, Kate takes clients through several exercises to help their brains place disturbing memories in the past. This means that they can begin to feel the safety of the present, and not experience flashbacks or other distressing reminders of the past incident. Kate teaches clients how to regulate their emotions so they can avoid becoming overwhelmed. Clients also learn skills from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to manage overwhelm, and take action in their desired, and values based, decisions. Kate often incorporates elements of mindfulness practices into her work with clients, so clients can continue to practice self awareness and grounding outside of therapy sessions.
Kate earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California. She has over 10 years of experience working with clients. She goes at the client’s pace and never pushes clients past their comfort zones when it comes to their healing. She empowers clients to overcome their past experiences and refocus themselves on the present.
