Katherine Scholle is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Philadelphia, working with adults and couples throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Katherine specializes in working with clients on issues related to anxiety, depression, relationships and substance use. Katherine is particularly passionate about supporting people with substance use concerns through a Harm Reduction lens. Katherine has significant experience supporting clients who have histories of abuse and trauma.
Katherine's style is empathetic, warm, direct, and utilizes a sense of humor. Her practice is grounded in feminist and anti-oppressive frameworks, and her approach is trauma-informed and LGBTQ+ affirming. These frameworks help us understand our personal struggles in the context of the world we live in and the structures that impact us. Katherine uses an empowerment and strength-based lens, which focuses on unearthing and cultivating the existing inner resources we all have. She is particularly interested in exploring with clients the narratives they've developed about themselves and their relationships, and unpacking the ways they may or may not be serving them. Katherine is trained in and primarily uses Narrative therapy, Solution-Focused therapy, Psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy and Motivational interviewing. Katherine is also Level 1 certified in the Gottman method for couples counseling.
Katherine obtained her Masters of Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania. Katherine worked in community mental health for six years prior to opening her private practice. Katherine's professional experience has included jail settings, inpatient and intensive outpatient drug treatment, and supportive housing. In these settings, Katherine has supported clients with a wide range of mental health concerns and trauma histories.
