Professional statement

Katie Hoerth is a Licensed Professional Counselor located in Broomfield, CO. Katie is an inclusive and affirming therapist who enjoys working with clients of all backgrounds, identities, neurodiversities, preferences, and lifestyle. Katie generally supports clients who have experienced trauma. Many of them hold painful memories that negatively impact their daily lives. This trauma could be childhood trauma, sexual trauma, professional trauma, or medical trauma. Katie helps her clients establish a sense of safety so they can decrease their mental health symptoms like panic, fear, sadness, loneliness, or a sense of emptiness.

Katie is a relational therapist who encourages clients to examine the ways that they interact and connect with others. She tailors her approach based on her client’s personality, needs, and goals. Katie practices Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients navigate periods of change and to create a more meaningful and fulfilling life. Clients increase their awareness, both physically and mentally, and learn mindfulness techniques that they can practice. She also uses an evidence-based therapy modality called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which leverages the brain’s natural function to instill a sense of safety. EMDR helps clients overcome the intense emotions that often pair with their difficult memories and subsequent emotions.

Katie earned a Master’s degree from the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology. She strives to be culturally competent in her care and to connect with clients empathetically and compassionately. Katie offers perspective for clients to help guide them towards authenticity and healthy relationships with themselves and others.
