Professional statement

Katie is a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York City. In her practice, she works with individuals and couples.

Katie’s therapeutic approach is personalized for each client based on their goals and how they view the problems they face. She is trained in a wide range of treatment practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and family therapy.

Before her work as a therapist in private practice, Katie was a community social worker for 10 years. She worked closely with adults and adolescents impacted by the child welfare system. Now as a therapist, her philosophy is to consider how the individual difficulties that people face connect to larger systemic problems such as racism, gender discrimination, homophobia, fatphobia, and ableism.

Katie provides virtual therapy sessions for people residing in New York.

Message to clients

Maybe you don’t feel like yourself anymore or you’ve experienced recent life changes. You might have an overwhelming sense of worry or a loss of motivation, and perhaps you need some support navigating your relationships.

I will help you figure out where your pain comes from and how to move forward. I will provide research-based strategies to match your specific needs. For example in a couples session, we might look at relationship patterns, identify your values, improve communication skills, and hold appropriate boundaries. In an individual session, I will help you recognize and accept your emotions, challenge any distorted thought patterns you might engage in, and practice new coping skills.

I also support people who have a religious background. I know how important and complex faith can be for many people, and it’s often hard to talk about with someone who doesn’t have an understanding of faith communities or spirituality. I will help you navigate your concerns in a safe, respectful space.

I’d love to hear from you! Send me a message and let’s schedule a time to see if we’re a good fit.
