Katie Mason, LCSW (she/her) is a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of experience working in mental health with children, youth and adults. Many of her clients are empaths, deep thinkers, and have many talents, however may lack self-esteem, are facing a transition in their lives, experienced a trauma or need some guidance on tricky issues. Katie supports each individual or family system to navigate the struggles - be it depression, anxiety, parenting concerns, identity exploration, relationship pain - while highlighting strengths and building new skills.
Katie believes the best healing is done in relationships. With a warm, authentic approach, Katie builds trust with clients to allow for vulnerability, risk taking, and ultimately personal growth. In family therapy sessions, Katie encourages family members to share stories and to listen deeply, bringing validation and stronger connections. In working with youth or adults, Katie likes to use a blend of insight-oriented and skills-based approaches, drawing from her experience with cognitive behavior therapy, trauma work, and attachment theory.
Katie adheres to the notion that two things can be true: we can show ourselves more self-love and acceptance AND work towards change at the same time. Katie works collaboratively with clients to find themes, set goals and develop new practices. With supportive, gentle guidance, Katie will present creative strategies and new ways of viewing an issue that bring more healing.
Having worked in public services for many years, Katie welcomes clients from different cultures and backgrounds and can provide services in English or Spanish. With a trauma-informed approach, Katie also has extensive training in treating eating disorders or other high risk situations. As a seasoned telehealth provider, Katie offers remote sessions to anyone located in California.
