Professional statement

Katya Kosarenko, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in West LA, where she also supervises associates on their way to receive professional licenses. Katya challenges herself to grow and become a stronger human being on a daily basis. This very much informs her approach in therapy the goal of which she sees as supporting clients in their journey of discovering themselves and their innate strengths as they face challenges of life.

Katya enjoys working with individuals, couples and groups.

Her approach is informed by many different modalities of healing from psychodynamic, humanistic to cognitive-behavioral. The most influential role plays Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, in which Katya has obtained extensive training and certification. This mindfulness- and holistic-based modality holds at its core principles of respect for each person’s individuality and innate wisdom, which can be uncovered through collaborative, experiential and interactive techniques, noticing not only thoughts and emotions but also reactions in the body, providing a more full view of inner landscape. This process has also proven to be very effective in helping couples untangle their challenging dynamics and find ways to connect that work uniquely for them.

Katya is bi-cultural and bi-lingual, and is fluent in both English and Russian.

Message to clients

It takes a certain person to look for support, and I commend you on taking this first step. Life is challenging, and there are times when no matter how hard we try, things just don’t change. We often find ourself spinning out of control feeling overwhelmed, scared, sad and tired… beyond tired, feeling alone, stuck and in pain, dealing with distressing thoughts, feelings and body symptoms. And the list goes on.

I am here to support you in finding tools and getting to the roots of your challenges. Together, by engaging your mind and body, we will find ways for you to feel hopeful, in control and motivated to advance in life, whether it means taking a tiny baby step or making a big leap.
