Psychologist, PhDShe/Her/Hers
Psychologist, PhDKavita Desai Dakoji, PhD, considers herself lucky to have a profession that she loves: Being a psychologist. Self-proclaimed psychology superfan, Dr. Kavita's mission is to tailor psychological science to people in an authentic and unique way to help them get unstuck so they can live and enjoy their life.
Dr. Kavita specializes in tailoring psychological science for each person's unique needs and situations. With intentional listening, she weaves psychology, education, and skills into each conversation drawing from the individual's interests, hobbies, and values. She especially loves working with youth, young adults, and adults who have complex health concerns and those individuals who have felt dismissed, judged, or "gaslit" by other (usually) well intentioned medical specialists.
People who benefit from working with Dr. Kavita are typically high-achieving, balancing a lot of life, strive to do great things, and/or are mired down with distressing physical symptoms (like chronic pain/primary pain disorder, POTS, Ehlers-Danlos, headaches, migraines, Disorders of the Gut-Brain Interaction, to name a few). She is a direct, eduation-based therapist who weaves teaching and clinician work together seamlessly.
Dr. Kavita has extensive training in CBT, ACT, clinical hypnosis, and biofeedback. She fuses humor, practicality, meaning-making into sessions that are direct, symptom focused, and educational.
Dr. Kavita is excited to provide telehealth services in 33+ states as well as in person for the greater Minneapolis (Minnesota) metro area. Adept at telehealth, Dr. Kavita has found ways to engage even young kids (5+) virtually.
