Professional statement

Kealy Spring is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. Often those she works with are driven professionals who are struggling with imposter syndrome, perfectionism, communication issues, anxiety or depression. While she is trained in many therapeutic modalities and never thinks there is a one size fits all approach to therapy, she uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques as well as Hakomi or somatic work as a backbone to her practice. She is also a Leadership, Career and Communication Coach which informs her style and approach to therapy.

In addition to her M.S. in Counseling Psychology, Kealy also has an M.A. in Communication and has worked in the corporate world both in the US as well as in Australia. As a result, she truly understands how greatly one's job can impact their mental health.

Kealy's goal is never to keep someone indefinitely in therapy, rather she aims to help those she works with find tools to more effectively navigate the challenges of their work and personal lives. Her approach is two fold; symptom relief as well as exploration of where behaviors, thoughts and feelings are coming from. This helps others gain short term relief as well as to uncover and give less power to in the long run to those things that get in an individual or couple's way.

During the pandemic, Kealy has been offering telehealth (video and phone) sessions. However, her office is in downtown SF in the historic Hobart building and will be offering a combination of video and in-person options starting in the fall. She offers afternoon and evening appointments during the workweek.

Message to clients

I tend to be a little different that what you might think of as a traditional therapist type. I am direct, humorous, a super attuned listener and am honest with you about what I am seeing/hearing. I like to think of myself as joining the team of those I work with. It in no way means I will agree with you all the time, but I am committed to helping you bring out the best version of yourself, whatever you define that to be. If you are willing to do the work, I will be right there with you, cheering you on.

I also see therapy as an ongoing conversation with those I work with. What that means is that we work together for awhile building momentum and traction towards changing those issues that are impacting you. After that, you may want to take a break from therapy. I totally get it. But maybe something challenging comes up in your life and you need support again. I tend to have a pretty solid memory so even if I haven't seen someone for years, I generally can recall what we worked on. This allows us to pick up where we leave off and get traction faster in our sessions.

Looking for someone who is "Team You"? I might be your right fit. Reach out today!
