Professional statement

Kelly Baez is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and Florida. Kelly primarily works with clients who have experienced trauma but also works with people experiencing burnout, anxiety, family issues. In addition, Kelly provides counseling for clients who have early and middle stage dementia who might be experiencing distress and behavior challenges due to a history of trauma that is resurfacing. Kelly also works with people who have communication challenges such as aphasia or disfluent speech (aka stuttering).

She pulls from a variety of approaches including EMDR, CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness and often uses a blend of talk therapy and EMDR processing (which is much less talking) to best meet every client's individual needs.

Kelly has advanced training in EMDR and is also a Certified First Responder Counselor.

Kelly sees clients in an online format only. Please reach out to schedule your free consultation!

Message to clients

Life can get complicated and so heavy - even more so when you're contending with the echoes of past trauma. My goal is to help you develop some strategies that make the "here and now" more tolerable, then follow up with a deeper dive into what's holding you back from happiness and well being.

Many of my clients are in counseling for their own experiences, but often people come to counseling to cope with others who won't go to counseling. If that sounds like your situation, you're in the right place.

If you're looking for someone to tell you exactly what to do, I'm probably not the right counselor for you. If you're looking for someone to hold space where you can unpack what's heavy, learn strategies to cope, and process the trauma on your terms, then let's set up a time to talk. I'm here to help.

If you're a caregiver for someone with dementia, please know that understand what a challenge that can be. I value communication and collaboration. I'm happy to set up a consult with any and all caregivers to discuss your needs and what working together might look like for your loved one.

It can take time to find the right counselor and that can be tough to do when life goes sideways. Many of my clients will work with me for a time, process the "big things" then will reach out on an as-needed basis.
