Professional statement

Kelly Harvey, LPC, CPCS, CCH is a licensed professional counselor licensed in Maine, New Hampshire, and Georgia since 1999. She is particularly interested in working with those in transition, be it around issues of identity, or career changes, marital status, parenthood, or geography. She is highly experienced in grief and loss around chronic illness and death.

In this time of rapid change, Kelly brings a wealth of tools to assist in adapting with humor and grace. She has advanced training in cognitive behavioral therapies, mindfulness practices, attachment theory, trauma focused practices, family systems therapy and clinical hypnotherapy. She has been trained in Exposure Response Prevention, the gold standard for the treatment of OCD, phobias, and panic disorders. She has been certified in DBT, EMDR and hypnotherapy. She is trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. She has taught graduate courses in cognitive therapies, and run groups focused on supporting healthy families and clear communication. She is adept at helping clients develop the language for setting boundaries and navigating difficult personalities at home or in the workplace.

Hypnotherapy may be appropriate for some clients, used in conjunction with cognitive-behavioral techniques to rapidly resolve symptoms of anxiety or trauma, for pain management, or to enhance behavioral change such as wellness, or smoking cessation.

Kelly works 100% remotely, which offers privacy, convenience and flexibility.

Message to clients

Welcome. I'm glad you're here.

What brings you to therapy? What makes your life vibrant and interesting, or what is keeping you stuck? Good therapy is about connection, and goodness of fit matters! I reflect back to my clients their unique strengths and gifts. Many people come to therapy because they have forgotten how to connect with their inner wisdom, or they have had painful experiences with others which have injured their ability to trust. This is a process of relearning skills and experiencing a safe relationship while rediscovering the part of you that is healthy, and knows how to be happy.

We will identify goals around managing mood, enhancing self-knowledge, and navigating relationship challenges. We will focus on understanding symptoms and emotions. We can improve awareness, distress tolerance and emotion regulation. The past can be a source of wisdom rather than pain. Our work will use humor, creativity, and self-compassion to bring attention to those experiences, feelings, and beliefs which cause you pain.

Therapy can be collaborative, creative and supportive, going at the pace that feels right for you. I think there is a place for laughter. Humor offers perspective, and laughter heals. If you feel we might be a good fit, I hope you will reach out.
