Professional statement

Kelly Harvey, LPC, CPCS, CCH is a licensed professional counselor based and working in Georgia, working remotely as a digital nomad. She is presently exploring South America.

Licensed since 1999, she works with adult of all ages, and has an inclusive practice which actively supports women, minorities, transnationals, and LGBTQ clients. She is particularly interested in working with those in transition, be it around issues of identity, or the transitions experienced by career changers, newlyweds or newly single, new parents, and other digital nomads. She is highly experienced in grief and loss around chronic illness and death.

In this time of rapid change, Kelly brings a wealth of tools to assist in adapting with humor and grace. Kelly has advanced training in cognitive behavioral therapies, mindfulness practices, attachment theory, trauma focused practices, family systems therapy and clinical hypnotherapy. She has been trained in Exposure Response Prevention, the gold standard for the treatment of OCD, phobias, and panic disorders. She has taught graduate courses in cognitive therapies, and run groups focused on supporting healthy families and clear communication. She is adept at helping clients develop the language for setting boundaries and navigating difficult personalities at home or in the workplace.

Hypnotherapy may be appropriate for some clients, used in conjunction with cognitive-behavioral techniques to rapidly resolve symptoms of anxiety or trauma, for pain management, or to enhance behavioral change such as wellness, or smoking cessation.

Kelly works 100% remotely, which offers privacy, convenience and flexibility.

Message to clients

Welcome. I'm glad you're here.

My focus is on life transitions of all sorts, including school, career, spirituality, sexual and gender identity, and relationship. Together, We will embrace the tools of mindfulness and self-compassion to bring attention to those experiences, feelings and beliefs which need attention. We identify goals around managing anxiety, embracing identity, and navigating relationship challenges. We will focus on understanding both symptoms and emotions, improving awareness, distress tolerance and emotion regulation.

In therapy, I place emphasis on meaning, personal choice, and motivation. Good therapy is about connection, and goodness of fit matters. I reflect back to my clients their unique strengths, gifts and beauty. Many people come to therapy because they have either forgotten how to connect with their inner sense of self, or they have had painful experiences with others which have injured their trust and their ability to connect. Therapy is a process of relearning skills and experiencing a safe relationship while rediscovering the part of themselves that is healthy, and knows how to be happy and whole.

I believe that therapy can be collaborative, creative and supportive, going at the pace that feels right to each client. I think there is a place for laughter in therapy...that humor offers perspective, and laughter heals. If you feel we might be a good fit, I hope you will reach out.
