Kelly is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with over 20 years of experience helping adults, college students, teens and children navigate through life transitions, grief, trauma, anxiety and depression. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Appalachian State University and Master’s in Psychology from Antioch University Seattle. She uses a supportive nature-based therapy approach to increase communication, improve relationships, reduce symptoms and gain coping skills.
Nature-based therapy involves using nature as a partner in the therapeutic process. Sessions are held primarily outdoors at Bee Tree Ridge Farm to facilitate interaction with the natural world as a way of improving self-regulation of mental health symptoms. Sessions are unique and experiential. One session may be focused on finding a personal safe space in the forest, and another may be walking to a vista and practicing mindfulness strategies. Kelly will engage clients in specific nature-based activities to encourage self-discovery, stress reduction, emotional regulation and reflection.
Bee Tree Ridge Farm is located near Boone, NC. Kelly is available for in-person sessions at the Farm Monday through Friday. Kelly also offers online sessions in which nature-based activities can be incorporated.
