Kelsey Bates is a licensed professional counselor specialized in working within the women's health niche. Kelsey founded New York Women's CBT with the goal of meeting women where they are, supporting them in the midst of pain and providing tools for them to stop just surviving and start thriving. Kelsey's clients have women's health issues such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, chronic illness, infertility, perinatal mental health, autoimmune issues, hypermobility spectrum disorders and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, dysautonomia and POTS, long covid as well as anxiety, depression, grief and loss. She is also specialized in women's health issues such as pelvic pain, sexual trauma and birth trauma. Kelsey has obtained specialized training from Postpartum Support International to support new and soon to be moms navigate postpartum depression or anxiety during pregnancy, as well as birth trauma.
Kelsey utilizes a client centered approach, rooted in psychodynamic processing, trauma informed Cognitive Behavioral techniques, Dialectical Behavior Therapy tools, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness tools. She is also trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, a highly effective cognitive behavioral approach to treating trauma and PTSD.
Kelsey earned her Master's degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She went on to complete her supervised hours for licensure in New York City, working in both non-profit and private practice settings. Kelsey received training from the Ellis Institute in Manhattan in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and is recognized as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, National Certified Counselor and member of the American Counseling Association.
Kelsey founded her group practice, New York Women's CBT, in Manhattan to provide expert, specialized care for women's health and chronic illness due to her own personal experience as a patient.
