Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical, LCSW-CKerry Higgins is a New York based psychotherapist serving clients virtually and in person in New York and Connecticut welcoming individuals who are seeking to change they way they feel and create emotional harmony in their lives and relationships. Many of her clients come to therapy with unresolved emotional wounding from the past, a disordered relationship with food and codependent patterns manifesting as anxiety, depression, a loud inner critic, lack of direction, relationship troubles and self doubt. In collaboration, Kerry helps her clients reconnect to their inherent strengths and authentic selves through creating an understanding of the past, cultivating self compassion and developing a solution focused plan to help her clients find relief. Kerry supports her clients and holds them accountable as they develop new ways to address root issues, release stagnant pain and overcome emotional hurdles.
Therapy sessions with Kerry integrate a holistic and evidence based approach, her style has been described as warm, interactive and direct. During session Kerry creates a safe space for her clients to dismantle shame and create an internal attachment that feels secure and healing. Kerry leads with an emphasis on the mind body connection while integrating evidence based tools aimed at providing immediate relief. Many of Kerry's report that they leave sessions feeling hopeful, equipped, relieved and confident.
Having worked in various setting including residential settings, outpatient treatment centers and private practice treating eating disorders/ addiction, mood and relationship issues she has a special awareness of the impact of childhood trauma and family dysfunction. She believes that while therapy is work and requires commitment it can be fun. Kerry creates a warm and empathetic environment for her clients to begin to see themselves through the eyes of compassion while holding the vision of their deepest expansion.
