Kim is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Life Coach in NE Tennessee. She works with adults over the age of 18. Many of Kim’s clients come in when they are struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. Kim is particularly passionate about serving those who are experiencing the negative effects of trauma, and is a certified trauma therapist and life coach.
Kim’s approach is rooted in CBT, which helps client to understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are related and how trauma can affect these processes. In session, Kim focuses on helping clients to understand how the influences and events they have experienced have affected the way they view themselves and the world around them. This approach supports clients to begin to heal from the effects of trauma so that they begin to choose how they respond, rather than react to situations around them.
Kim’s style is eclectic, and she uses a variety of interventions. She is interactive, non-judgmental, and believes that the client is the expert on where they are now and where they want to go. When a client first comes in, Kim is sensitive to the influence of the past on their present challenges and works closely with clients to develop a plan that will help client to rewrite the narrative of their life in way that increases self-esteem, confidence, and self-compassion.
Kim received her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, and her certification as a trauma therapist from the Trauma Research Foundation. She gained experience working in community mental health and from completing her own trauma healing program, which enables her to more deeply understand how trauma affects every area of life. Outside of private practice, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with family.
