Kimberly Embe is an Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Richmond, VA. She began her social work career in 2018, specializing in participatory action research aimed to address youth homelesness in the Richmond and Tri City areas of Virginia. She continues to engage in this work, and has had her findings published in research journals as well as presented on a local, national, and federal based level. Kimberly strives to combine her clinical and policy based experience to destigmatize and mental and behavioral health issues in marginalized communities, address treatment gaps, provide accessible, affirming, and quality care to those who have been historically underserved.

Kimberly has a range of experience working in the private, hospital, and community based sectors. She has worked alongside a wide array of populations including children, adolescents, and adults to address ; anxiety, depression, eating disorders, childhood trauma, post traumatic stress disorder, serious mental illness, personality disorders, life transitions, gender/sexual identity, autism spectrum disorders, and more.

She is guided by several practice theories which include; System Theory, Black Feminist Theory, CBT, DBT, Acceptance Based Commitment, Psychodynamic, and Humanistic/Client-Centered Approach and offers both in person and telehealth therapy sessions as well as sliding scale payments.

I got in to therapy to increase representation for those belonging to various marginalized groups which include; gender, sexuality, race, and/or socioeconomic status. I recognize that opening up to someone new can be intimidating. This is why I am so passionate about establishing and maintaining authentic therapeutic connections by taking on an holistic and collaborative approach to practice that centers compassion, transparency, and openness. I am committed fostering a supportive environment that empowers clients on their journey to mental wellness regardless of gender, sexuality, race, and/or socioeconomic status.
