Professional statement

Kristen is a Contemplative Therapist who integrates Eastern and Western modalities. Her goal is to inspire others to recognize and actualize their potential by building on strengths and identifying, exploring, and overcoming obstacles to growth.

The contemplative approach is well suited for people who are curious about themselves and have a willingness to openly and honestly connect with their strengths as well as their vulnerabilities. Compassion, mindfulness, and authenticity are essential to the healing process as these qualities motivate awareness and bring us closer to ourselves and to each other.

Though Kristen’s contemplative approach embodies a Buddhist perspective and utilizes spiritual technologies, it does not endorse or warrant adherence to spiritual dogma. Instead, it facilitates access to the inner spirit and wisdom within all of us. Compassion for self and others, flexibility in thinking, and a readiness to contemplate perspective are key facets of this process.

Kristen’s synthesis of Tibetan Buddhism and Western Psychology encourages the creation of a sacred space where individuals can make contact with the darkest and lightest aspects of themselves free of the self-judgment and criticism that are so prevalent in Western culture. Individuals can feel supported and empowered as they begin to chart their own path towards self-liberation and healing. Kristen’s thoughtful integration of East and West provides tools that can be utilized to heal everyday disturbances as well as deep trauma.

Kristen offers weekly therapy sessions based on individuals needs. Please reach out to schedule an appointment or consultation.

Message to clients

I often come back to a sentiment that hooked me early in my Buddhist studies: the idea we only exist as pure potential. Hearing this was empowering and begged the question of what we/I would do with this potential. I am filled with fascination and joy when I can support others in utilizing their strengths and vulnerabilities to actualize their chosen path.

I believe that if we can recognize life’s experiences as opportunities to grow, and play with the possibilities, self-criticism fades, and self-compassion and connection grow. When we can identify and see the dark and light aspects of the self and understand their origin, judgement fades and a compassionate and gentle approach can preside This allows for an internal space where we can truly process, heal, and grow.

I attempt to practice these things both personally and professionally and want to help you honor your own individual path in a space that feels safe to explore whatever is arising. I know that this process can be challenging and hope that I can make it less so while supporting you in your growth.
