Professional statement

Kristina Baktis is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board Certified Registered Art Therapist located in Princeton, NJ. Kristina enjoys working with teenagers, young adults, and adults. Many of Kristina’s clients feel stuck in their lives but aren’t sure how to talk about this feeling. They want to make a change but aren’t sure how, whether that’s ceasing a harmful behavior like drinking or overcoming a mental block in their professional lives. Kristina is passionate about working with neurodivergent people and those who have past experiences with trauma.

As an art therapist, Kristina centers conversations about emotions and mental health around art. She finds that through art, clients can express themselves through symbolism, metaphor, and creativity, which can bring them to deeper introspection. Kristina encourages clients to set mental health goals for themselves, and in session will check on progress towards these goals. Clients learn coping strategies that they can bring with them into the various contexts of their lives. These coping strategies can be helpful in avoiding or decreasing distress.

Kristina earned a Master’s degree from the Pratt Institute. She has over ten years of experience working with clients and sees therapy as a brave space where clients can grow, heal, and learn more about themselves.
