Specialties & Expertise
Landis Block Bejar is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and the founder of the New York-based therapy practice, AisleTalk. The majority of her clients are in their 20s and 30s who are in the midst of life transitions and/or have anxiety or depression. Many of these clients are young couples faced with the challenges of making life decisions as a unit, focusing on communication issues, trust issues, and the aftermath of cheating. She also specializes in short-term work helping individuals and couples cope with the stresses of wedding planning and premarital challenges.
Landis uses an eclectic therapeutic approach that incorporates Psychodynamic Therapy, work centered around early relationships and their current impacts, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is focused on restructuring negative thoughts in efforts to feel better. Landis is certified in the PREPARE/ENRICH premarital assessment, which she uses as a way to assess and guide premarital counseling.
Landis is passionate about the work she does, and she wants all of her clients to feel supported as they navigate challenges. She holds a Master’s of Education in Counseling Psychology from the Teachers College of Columbia University. She looks forward to meeting you at her office, which is located near Grand Central.
Message to clients
Hi, I'm Landis. My style is warm, nonjudgmental, client-centered, & goal-oriented. I like to work alongside clients to determine what they would like to change & how they would like to go about changing it, as this process is unique for each individual. I start by building a trusting, working relationship, rooted in the client's strengths. From there, I integrate techniques of CBT, emotion-focused couples therapy (EFT), person-centered therapy, trauma-informed therapy, mindfulness practices, & psychodynamic therapy based on each client's unique needs & preferences and I appreciate & incorporate honest feedback throughout the process.
In addition to helping clients coping with more general stressors and concerns outlined on this page, I am also the founding therapist of AisleTalk: Consultation & Therapy, a boutique therapy practice specializing in supporting individuals going through the stresses of planning a wedding.
Though this is typically expected to be a joyous time, AisleTalk understands that sometimes it is quite the opposite, often bringing up acute stress, anxiety, depression, family issues, relationship stress, financial burdens, multicultural concerns, identity challenges, self-esteem and body image issues, and many other burdens.
