Professional statement

Dr. Laura Kelly is a Psychologist located in Bellerose, NY. Many of the clients that Dr. Kelly works with might appear to be engaged and enjoying life on the outside, however inside, they’re being eaten alive by self-doubt, shame, worry, or burnout. They find themselves thinking through the same memories or situations repeatedly so that by the time the weekend comes, they’re too emotionally exhausted to enjoy time away from school or work. Dr. Kelly’s clients also struggle with loneliness and feel disconnected from other people as well as their genuine selves.

Dr. Kelly helps clients become more present in their lives and take active steps towards finding joy and meaning. She teaches clients how to avoid getting stuck in difficult thoughts that lead to distress or even despair. She draws from a wide range of therapy approaches to do this, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, psychodynamic therapy, attachment-based therapy, and more. Clients learn more about themselves and identify what patterns cause them to feel disengaged from their lives.

Dr. Kelly earned a PhD in Psychology from Adelphi University. She empathizes with her clients, knowing how modern life can lead to loneliness, disconnection, and discomfort. Her goal is to help clients get to a place where they feel a deeper sense of self and brilliant joy.
