Laura's (she/her) intent as a person centered therapist is to create a friendly, open, and supportive space for clients. She works with teenagers, college students, and adults of various ages and stages in life. With a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, she uses her curiosity to help clients feel comfortable in sharing their authentic thoughts, feelings, and areas of themselves/their lived experiences that they hope to change or gain some insight (aka the "why am I like this?!"). Anxiety & depression, trauma/c-ptsd, LGBTQIA+, racial/cultural/societal factors, learning differences, transitions and life changes, relationship challenges, people pleasing tendencies, negative self beliefs and schemas, stress and school/job/life/home/family/self dissatisfaction are some of the areas in which Laura has worked with clients over the years - and helped create insight, clarity, and desired change. She is open about her own diagnosis of ADHD and deeply "gets it" when it comes to how the neurodivergent inner critic can impact our sense of self.
Laura received her B.A. in English from Gettysburg College (PA), and 12 years later changed careers and earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Adjustment Counseling from Lesley University (Cambridge, MA). Prior to starting her private practice, Laura worked as a middle and high school counselor, as well as with adolescents and adults at community mental health agencies across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
