Laura is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience in helping those impacted by interpersonal violence and relational trauma as well as those contemplating transition decisions in their lives. Many individuals Laura works with are challenged with regulating their emotions and often struggle with their self-esteem and self-worth. This can lead to anxiety, depression, and unhealthy behaviors.
Laura uses a variety of different therapeutic modalities that enable clients to begin on their path to healing and growth. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is used in many different mental health conditions, is often the foundation for the early stages of therapy. Through CBT, clients learn to identify and reframe distortions: this reframing increases positive feelings and in turn more positive behaviors. In addition to the in-session activities, Laura can provide techniques, tools and body-based activities to assist clients in navigating their daily stressors with the goal of creating a healthier, more vibrant life. Laura helps clients process through the impacts that their pasts have on their present selves and provides an empathetic approach that enables clients to express their feelings in order to move forward in their lives.
As a trauma-trained and culturally-sensitive therapist, Laura strives to provide a safe, nurturing and supportive space for her clients to explore their strengths. She welcomes all inquiries about her background and services and looks forward to hearing from individuals interested in working with her.
Please note: Services are provided through tele-therapy only at this time. If you have not worked with a therapist through video sessions, Laura can help you decide if this approach is right for you.
