Professional statement

Dr. Sproch has been working in the field of psychology for over 15 years. She enjoys working with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, perfectionism, and/or eating disorders. She helps individuals to recognize their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and identify opportunities for change. She is dedicated to utilizing evidence-based treatments (i.e., therapies that have been researched to be most effective for a particular condition) to help support the changes that clients want to make. She specializes in cognitive behavioral, behavioral, family-based, and behavioral family therapy.

Dr. Sproch received her doctorate in Clinical and School Psychology from Hofstra University, which prides itself as a leader in the New York area for its commitment to cognitive behavioral and behavioral training, and evidence-based practices. Prior to Hofstra, she received her BA in Psychology from Vassar College.

Eating Disorder Specialty: Along with her training treating a spectrum of mental health conditions, she is also a certified eating disorder specialist. She has worked at eating disorder-specialized treatment facilities across the country. Most recently, she was the Program Director of the New England Eating Disorders Program at Sweetser, a premier eating disorder treatment facility in the state of Maine, where she led a multidisciplinary team in applying evidence-based treatments at multiple levels of care for adults and children. Prior to her time in Maine, Dr. Sproch was a postdoctoral fellow and then Research Coordinator at the Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt (currently Eating Recovery Center- Baltimore), where she provided individual, group, and family therapy, as well as assessment, for patients at all levels of care.

Dr. Sproch’s practice is fully remote at this time. As a PsyPACT provider, she is able to treat clients virtually in over 38 states nationwide.

Message to clients

Life is both vibrant and wonderful, and tough and complicated. I am here to help support you in sorting out your own thoughts, behaviors, and feelings to determine what goals for change you have and how best to get there. I recognize how difficult change can be, and offer a compassionate approach to this process.

I am a scientist-practitioner who is dedicated to applying treatments that work for your mental health concern. Whether behavioral activation for depression, enhanced cognitive behavioral therapy for binge eating disorder, or grief therapy for loss, I am committed to offering the most effective psychotherapy treatments to your behavioral health needs. Effective therapy is not meant to be long-term, but instead a treatment that allows for the development of new skills to practice independently outside of sessions.

In my sessions, you will find a warm, safe (and sometimes humorous) space to identify problems, evaluate potential alternative responses, test out changes, accept aspects of life that are out of your control, and celebrate what works for you. I often hear from patients that they find me to be an expert that they can trust, and that sessions are a helpful place “to get down to work.”

If this sounds like a good fit for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation.
