Professional statement

Lauren is a New York University Silver School of Social Work graduate and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She takes a trauma-informed approach and maintains a cultural humility lens. Lauren believes her clients are the experts of their own experiences and strives to remain nonjudgmental, curious, supportive, and empathetic when working with them. Her goal is for her clients to leave sessions feeling safe and validated in their experiences and feelings, equipped with tangible coping skills. She is always on her client’s team and believes in authenticity and collaboration. Lauren emphasizes the importance of a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, supportive, and caring - a place where clients feel seen and heard.

She believes empowering clients includes providing crucial information about how our bodies and brains work. As a mental health education enthusiast, Lauren ensures her clients understand what happens to their bodies during a panic attack, what tools may be helpful, and how trauma affects both the mind and body. Consequently, Lauren offers the option of learning about mindfulness and the power of breathwork. She also utilizes psychodynamic approaches, creating a space for clients to be heard and to understand and reflect on their behavioral patterns.

Additionally, Lauren specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) modalities, where clients can learn how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact. She has significant experience working with children, adolescents, and adults dealing with depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, self-esteem issues, feelings of worthlessness, existential challenges, interpersonal challenges, personality disorders, and body image challenges. Lauren also specializes in working with Latinx and multiracial populations.

Message to clients

Hello there! As a therapist, I know that life is full of challenges that can be overwhelming at times. I'm here to offer you a warm and empathetic space where you can share your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Whether you're an adult or adolescent, I am here to listen to you with an open heart and work with you to overcome the challenges you're facing. I know that dealing with anxiety, perfectionism, intrusive thoughts, depression, childhood trauma, existential challenges, shame, loneliness, isolation, fear of abandonment, attachment issues, and feelings of worthlessness can be difficult. However, I want you to know that you're not alone in this. Together, we can create a plan that empowers you and helps you find relief, freedom, and peace.

Our painful emotions, thoughts, and experiences provide valuable information, but they do not have to define us. Change is possible – it may start with small, subtle shifts that are difficult to perceive at first. Over time, you will acquire new tools, a greater sense of safety and empowerment, self-compassion, and a deeper connection to yourself and others.
