Professional statement

At Brave Embers Wellness, we examine with curiosity and compassion the survival skills we engage in and use a gentle approach to create subtle shifts moving towards treatment goals. This helps us not feel overwhelmed and create a chance at lasting change while rewiring our brain towards an internal dialogue of self-compassion and grace. In session, Lauren focuses initially on grounding and resilience-building skills. These interventions include art, music or video clips depending on what resonates with client interests and needs. With the addition of somatic interventions, we support clients to believe that overtime they can connect with their bodies and feel more present in their day-to-day lives.

Lauren's style is Creative, Trauma-Informed, Compassionately Challenging. When clients first start therapy, she asks the client to share what they hope to find on the other side of the therapeutic process. That way as we walk through their healing journey, she can help remind them of the light waiting for them on the other side of the struggle.

Lauren works with clients in Peoria, AZ. Lauren’s clients come in to address complex trauma, disturbances in body image, struggles with self-identity, perfectionism, boundaries difficulties, anxiety and depression. Lauren is passionate about supporting clients with trauma histories and eating disorders. She also has advanced training in Complex PTSD, Eating Disorders, OCD. Lauren is trained in IFS, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Experiential Therapy, EMDR, TCTSY.

Lauren received her MA from Chestnut Hill College. She has been a Workshop therapist at two separate workshop retreat centers as well as a trauma therapist at a residential eating disorder center. Outside of providing therapy, she enjoys being in the outdoors, spending time with her family in Pennsylvania, and being creative especially using art. Lauren offers both in-person and Telehealth. Additionally, she offers individual and groups experiential workshop

Message to clients

I strongly believe that my job is to help my clients learn that they are their own best healers. We all face hard events in life, and for each person what that looks like differs and cannot be held up to others for comparison. Pain is Pain. The good news, however, is that also means that hope is hope and joy is joy. The hard events we face in our lives are teachers that give each of us an opportunity to face our fears head on and heal to fully embrace who we were always meant to become!

I find that often the ways learned to survive the difficult times, later get in our way as we try to move forward and create new fulfilling lives for ourselves as adults. I’m passionate about creating a safe space to help foster compassion and curiosity for those parts that helped us survive and to work together to heal of painful past experiences and trauma.

It takes tremendous bravery to choose to step into your healing work and it is my greatest privilege to be allowed the honor to walk alongside my clients on that journey.

Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse

Eating disorders & disordered eating - Reducing unhealthy eating patterns, beliefs, and behaviors, such as restricting, purging, and binging; healing the emotional pain surrounding disordered eating

Body dysmorphia - Coping with negative beliefs and feelings of shame about one’s appearance; building skills to manage distressing situations and thought patterns

Complex PTSD - Reclaiming a sense of empowerment after past experiences of multiple and/or chronic and prolonged, developmentally adverse traumatic events, often within the context of a relationship (e.g., sexual or physical abuse, war, community violence) and early-life onset. These exposures often occur within the child’s caregiving system and include physical, emotional, and educational neglect and child maltreatment beginning in early childhood.
