Professional statement

Lauren is passionate about helping couples be their favorite selves. She works with motivated couples that are in an exciting chapter of their lives, who simply don’t know what they don’t know. Lauren’s clients are looking to go from great to excellent- having essential conversations, thoroughly exploring and learning together, and building confidence by strengthening their foundation with evidence-based tools. Many of Lauren’s clients are engaged to be married. However, because Lauren specializes in preventative relational wellness, she happily works with committed partners who are serious about their future together, regardless of their labels. Some couples do not have intentions to marry, while others did not seek premarital services while they were engaged and are looking to do the work as newlyweds.

Lauren defines her role as an empowering helper. She operates from a solution-focused psychoeducational lens and systemic theoretical orientation. Lauren provides concentrated, short-term services to help the couples she works with build the tools and confidence they need to see themselves as the experts of their own relationship.

Lauren is certified by the state of Texas as both a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. in Psychology, and earned her Masters in Counseling at St. Edward’s University.

Lauren's practice, Texas Premarital Counseling, is online only and uses a HIPAA compliant platform called SecureVideo to facilitate sessions. This eases the time burden on clients by eliminating a commute and allows Lauren to serve clients all across Texas.

Message to clients

First, thank you for prioritizing the long-term health of your relationship. Not everyone understands the value of preventative relational wellness. This mindset is an incredible strength and something to be celebrated!

Second, thank you for taking the time to consider working with me. I take the ethical responsibilities of my helper role very seriously and if there is anything I can do to support you, even if that means simply providing another referral, please do not hesitate to reach out.

The vast majority of my clients “don’t know what they don’t know”… and that’s okay! I provide an empowering and structured environment for couples to grow together.

I offer a completely customizable 8-session premarital counseling package which works through the following structure:

Session One- Thorough Assessment (exploring individual and shared histories, identifying strengths and focus areas, setting goals for premarital counseling)

Session Two- Family of Origin (structure, traditions, culture, beliefs, and values)

Session Three- Individual Wellness (stress management, needs, differences)

Sessions Four and Five- Communication (patterns and cycles, tools, and conflict resolution strategies)

Session Six and Seven- Expressing Affection (love languages, intimacy, trust, and boundaries)

Session Eight- Goals (roles, expectations, finances, and family planning)
