Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWLauren Trestler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Oakland, CA. Lauren helps clients who face difficulties in their relationships, as well as anxiety or depression. Lauren is a trauma-informed therapist who creates safe, secure environments in each therapy session so clients can feel comfortable talking about their feelings openly. Many of her clients have previously experienced toxic relationships that leave them with low self-esteem and low self-worth. She also helps clients who feel stuck in their emotions, especially sadness, worthlessness, hopelessness, anger, frustration, disappointment, loneliness, or grief.
Lauren practices Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based therapy modalities to help clients better grasp what’s in their control and what’s outside of their control. Clients learn effective coping skills to utilize when they feel overwhelmed by their emotions. She also teaches clients how to decrease the occurrence of intrusive thoughts and painful memories. Lauren aims to boost clients’ self-compassion practices through self-affirmations and recognition of innate strengths. She has additional training in working with clients through trauma, specifically how to avoid reactivating clients’ concepts of fear, danger, or panic.
Lauren earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from University of California Berkeley. She has nearly ten years of experience supporting clients and enjoys working with clients from different backgrounds. She helps clients set and reach their mental health goals by providing validation, empathy, and different perspectives from which to view life situations.
