Professional statement

Laurie Lieberman discovered at an early age that she had an intuitive and curious nature. As she grew older, that became compassion and empathy for others in need. Laurie has worked at shelter programs, substance use treatment programs, advocating for families and children with ACS involvement, with adjudicated youth, and as manager of a large residential treatment facility for people with co-occurring disorders. She also opened the first recovery center in Queens County. Many of these experiences have informed the work she currently does. Laurie attended SUNY Empire and hold a bachelors of science in human services, a Master of Social Work from CUNY Hunter Silberman school of social work. Bringing 25 years of experience together to provide you the best care possible. She truly believes in client centered care and in the unlimited potential of the human mind, spirit and body to heal and turn challenges into success and emotional growth.

Message to clients

My practice offers a warm, safe and supportive place to work on your stuck points and ways to enhance and transform your life. Together, through the process of therapy we can unpack not only past negative experiences and/or behaviors, but also focus on how they impact you in the here and now; and most importantly identify strengths and patterns that we can examine and retool.

My style is empathic, eclectic, and informed by your particular needs and situation. I tend to use a strength based approach to help you recognize your own power and magnificence and your ability to make the changes that will enhance your life and alleviate struggle

It takes great strength and courage to reach out for help. Whether you have already realized the benefits of therapy and need to come back or especially if you are new to therapy I welcome you to journey together.
