Professional statement

Laurie Navarro Misra, MFT is a licensed Psychotherapist in Oakland, California. She works with adult and adolescent clients. Laurie's passion lies in her ability to provide a present, compassionate experience for clients while creating a safe, active space for growth and change. She weaves mental, physical and spiritual elements into her work, bringing a holistic approach to therapy. Depending on the individual needs of clients, this often includes mindfulness and somatic awareness (exploring how experiences can be held in the body).

Laurie is dedicated to life-long learning. Prior to becoming a therapist she worked in the corporate world as a recruiter, allowing her to integrate coaching skills into psychotherapy. She enjoys supporting clients who are exploring their greater purpose in life, and how to move closer to that calling. As a mother, Laurie is able to blend experiential wisdom with educational knowledge to help support parents and caregivers. In addition, Laurie has training in integration practices, post expanded states of consciousness.

Laurie works from a private, comfortable space in the Oakland Hills, overlooking redwood trees. She is available to work in person, virtually, or a combination of the two.

Message to clients

I am dedicated to providing compassionate, focused guidance to help you feel more fulfillment and ease. My approach is relational, meaning we will explore both your strengths and the areas in which you are struggling to determine a way forward. It means you will feel supported, and seen, without judgment. It is my goal to help you recognize and create the best version of yourself and your life. There may even be humor.

None of us lives this life unscathed. It is common for the wounds we experience to affect our relationships and sense of wellbeing. It is natural to protect ourselves from further wounding. This protection is helpful in important ways and in others can block our ability for deeper connection and intimacy. Therapy can help you loosen the areas where you might feel stuck or defended, and create new pathways, new possibilities. We can practice tools to help regulate your nervous system, decreasing anxiety while building self-compassion.

As we do this work you will notice a growing sense of awareness, and an ability to make choices that are aligned with the vision you have for your future. It is my goal to help you feel more whole, with a deeper sense of your authentic self, and better able to show up for the life and relationships you are yearning for.
