Lenzie Avery is a Marriage and Family Therapist located in Atlanta, GA. Lenzie uses the power of storytelling to help clients overcome anxiety, imposter syndrome, creative blocks, and stress. She’s passionate about giving clients a warm, welcoming space to talk about their lives, including what they’ve gone through, what’s worked for them, and what’s keeping them from feeling present and fulfilled by their everyday lives. Lenzie works with clients who feel burnt out in their personal and professional lives. This burnout can then lead to relationship conflicts with peers, coworkers, and loved ones. It can also lead to feelings of shame, guilt, loneliness, powerlessness, and hopelessness.
Lenzie practices a wide range of evidence-based therapy modalities with her clients. She encourages clients to assess how ready they are to make major changes in their lives through Motivational Interviewing. She also teaches clients about the impact of their thoughts on their feelings and behaviors with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Clients address cognitive distortions like assumptions or judgments. Lenzie enjoys bringing mindfulness practices into sessions, so clients might practice meditation, body scans, or grounding techniques. Lenzie supports clients as they use their imagination to explore their mental health and memories, guiding them to see their stories in a positive light.
Lenzie earned a Master’s degree in Family Therapy from Mercer University. People of all ages are welcome at Lenzie’s practice. She especially enjoys working with creatives (musician, artists, stylists etc.), young adults, and older teenagers.
