Lesa E. Porter is a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Matteson, IL. Lesa works with individuals from the ages of 24 - 60. She primarily works with females but welcomes male clients as well. Her clientele shares issues with self-esteem and understanding the struggles of developing committed relationships. Through therapy, she is able to help them recognize triggers from their childhood that may be the root cause of their relationship struggles.
Lesa’s approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based approach that focuses on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, so that they can begin to make targeted change. She also works to help clients understand how self-care is beneficial to their overall wellbeing. She has an MA degree in Community Counseling (Governors State University) and is currently pursuing an EdD in Counseling Care and Traumatology (Liberty University).
Lesa is focused on ensuring her clients feel heard and safe in an unbiased therapeutic relationship. She is engaging, dedicated and motivating in her approach which allows her clients to feel supported, understood and empowered. Clients feel understood and recognize their power and authentic self. Lesa is trauma-informed and seeks to help her clients to recognize how traumatic events in childhood have an impact on their development into adulthood.
Lesa’s first priority with all of her clients is to promote a healing environment in which they feel inspired to navigate this journey of discovery. She offers telehealth to her clients for their comfort and security as they work through the therapeutic process.
