Professional statement

Lillian de Blecourt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist in Lincoln Park who specializes in anxiety, trauma, relationships, mindfulness, and emotion regulation. She has extensive experience in working with developmental (childhood) trauma, and also treats PTSD and acute trauma. Many of her clients are urban professionals in their mid-20s to early 40s. However, she sees adults across the lifespan. Lillian has training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a trauma treatment model. She also draws from other trauma treatment approaches when working with those who have experienced traumatic events and conditions.

Lillian utilizes a number of different treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and mindfulness practices. She helps her clients regulate their mood and energy in addition to developing self-acceptance and finding ways to move forward from a place of feeling stuck. Lillian also works with clients who desire better relationships. This includes helping clients develop effective use of their boundaries along with improved communication skills.

With over two decades of experience, Lillian helps her clients gain greater self-acceptance and the coping skills they need to take on life’s challenges. Her office is accessible by public transportation (Red & Brown lines, buses 22, 151) and street parking is available.

Message to clients

If you've been feeling overwhelmed or shutdown, I can help you find workable ways to improve your mood and energy. In my psychotherapy practice I work with clients to help them tune-down elevated energy and anxiety. Or to boost flattened energy in sustainable ways. We do this collaboratively so that the practices you engage in feel right and useful. The world we live in can overwhelm our senses and our capacity to be present and calm. We all need effective ways to respond to stress in our lives and the world.

If you've noticed times when you feel capable and motivated, only to hear a self-doubting, overly-analyzing aspect of yourself take center stage, you're not alone. I find it common that clients who are overall successful also have aspects of themselves that dominate at times, that pull them out of their usual capabilities. I help clients learn to recognize these aspects of themselves and, in time, have a different experience of them.

Along with your desire to feel better individually, I can work with you on concerns about relationships in your life, such as your spouse/partner, family members, colleagues, friends, etc. Developing a better understanding of the ways you relates to others, and making changes you desire, is another strong area of experience and focus in my work. I welcome you to contact me with questions. Feel free to use the Zencare phone call scheduling system or simply email me.
