Lindsey Carnick is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving individuals and couples in Colorado, Massachusetts, Maryland, Nevada, Nebraska, and Rhode Island who want meaningful change in their lives. Lindsey's clients want to develop meaningful insight about frustrating and "stuck" patterns, as well as practical tactical skills and strategies for changing those patterns into constructive life and skills that create the personal and relational outcomes clients are seeking. Lindsey's clients are capable people who hate that they can't seem to think their way out of hard feelings, are tired of who they "become" when they are experiencing tough emotions, and are aggravated that their competency in the other aspects of their lives doesn't seem to translate to managing their emotional experiences.
Lindsey's no-nonsense style, compassion, great sense of humor, and appreciation for a well-placed curse word result in a therapeutic style that her clients experience as down-to-earth, relatable, compassionate, engaging, and forward-movement-oriented. Clients learn how to be gentle with themselves while also being radically accountable, and how to accept their feelings and move forward at the same time. Fighting ourselves, rejecting the feelings we've labeled as "bad", "wrong", or "shameful", and surpressing our expreriences only leads to more pain.
Lindsey's therapeutic modalities include a powerful blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CTB), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and concepts from IFS (Internal Family Systems), EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), and RLT (Relational Life Therapy). Her approach is centered on a deep belief that we create additional frustration for ourselves (on top of already feeling badly) when our goal is to "get over" the issues that challenge us. Rather, clients can move peacefully through what may have seemed like huge emotional, behavioral, and psychological obstacles with lightness and a sense that meaningful change is absolutely achievable.
