Lisa Blount is an advocate for women’s rights, and anti-racism and particularly creating space for Black women to safely unpack concerns and be vulnerable. She is also the mother of two awesome son’s. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her BS in Psychology from Delaware State University and her MA in Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College. She holds as a motto something her grandfather always taught her, “You’re going get the lesson until you get the lesson”. Through that motto she learned that every moment is a moment to learn and grow and that in every season there is a lesson that will continue to present itself until we learn what we need to learn from it. She uses that sentiment to hold space, support and inspire others to be the best version of themselves.
She takes pride in creating and sharing a therapeutic space that is safe, where you can explore and build on strengths, express difficult emotions, build hope and identify obstacles that may be blocking your way, without judgement. As a Black woman and mother who has experienced triumph, trauma, hope and despair from both personal and systemic oppression, she has developed the use of a mindfulness based, trauma informed practice and an anti-oppressive approach that fosters a balance of growth and building and deepening skills to cope empowering you to reach goals unique to you.
Lisa is also certified and has additional training in Trauma Focused CBT, DBT, Racial Trauma Treatment, Family Systems Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. These modalities are helpful when dealing with trauma, shame, grief, abuse, disassociation, panic attacks, fear, procrastination, depression and more.
