Professional statement

Women's mental health needs are often minimized or downplayed in traditional therapy settings. Dr. Lisa Goldfine has devoted her professional career to concentrating solely on addressing women's mental health needs. She helps women to navigate their unique challenges while simultaneously working with them to distill their core values, needs, and goals so that they can embark on their next chapter feeling more grounded and joyful.

Dr. Goldfine fosters a safe and supportive atmosphere that enables women to comfortably navigate hard topics, such as difficulties in relationships, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-doubt, concerns with body image, and challenges in maintaining a work-life balance.

Using a secure and HIPAA-compliant video portal, Dr. Goldfine provides the flexibility and ease of teletherapy sessions as well as offering in-person sessions out of her Larchmont-based office. Her clients come from Westchester, Manhattan, New York City, and the surrounding metropolitan area as well as Connecticut. She offers a free initial phone consultation during which time she is available to answer questions about the therapy process.

Dr. Goldfine practices primarily from a psychodynamic perspective which means that she is particularly tuned in to the ways that maladaptive relationships or patterns of behavior from the past can affect the present. She also has comprehensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and will incorporate these approaches when needed.

As an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Iona College, Dr. Goldfine has had the privilege of sharing her knowledge and expertise with future mental health professionals.

Dr. Goldfine’s practice is LGBTQ+ friendly and she welcomes LGBTQ+ identified individuals as well as individuals who are questioning their sexuality.

Message to clients

In order to take emotional risks and to learn about yourself in the process, you first need to feel safe.

My priority is to help you to feel secure and comfortable as we embark on the therapy process together. My demeanor is warm, genuine and relatable and tends to put people at ease. From my perspective, the connection between the therapist and client is of utmost importance. For lasting change to occur, trust, compassion, and cooperation are crucial therapeutic components that must be present in establishing a solid foundation.

I understand that every woman's life journey is different, and I am here to help you navigate whatever phase you are in. This could include dating, marriage, divorce, widowhood, pregnancy, postpartum issues, motherhood, or perimenopause. My goal is to help you gain a better understanding of yourself as we work through your challenges together and arrive at a fresh perspective that brings hope and clarity.

I do not provide one-size fits all treatment; my services are always tailored to meet your unique needs.
