Lorine Bay is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in San Mateo, CA who works with clients of all ages, including couples and families. Many of Lorine’s clients begin therapy because they want to learn how to better manage negative emotions like resentment, anxiety, irritability, shame, and more. They might resort to unhealthy attachment patterns in their relationships or have low self-esteem, which can get in their way with friends, family, and partners. Lorine also works with people going through major life transitions like pregnancy, grief, or leaving a toxic relationship.
Lorine begins each therapeutic relationship by getting to know her clients, including their backgrounds and what it was like for them growing up. She’s found that often, clients received messages when they were children about how to act – and how not to act – that inform their adult lives, possibly holding them back from living authentically. She practices a wide range of therapy modalities including art therapy, Polyvagal theory, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and more, to help clients overcome their barriers to happiness and fulfillment.
Lorine earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Her goal is to provide kind support to clients as they bring the unconscious into the conscious and to show them how to integrate all parts of the self, focusing on the body’s response to mental health.
