Lynell is a Registered Art Therapist and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Los Angeles, CA who believes that discomfort is a natural part of the healing and evolving process, and therefore learning how to make space for that discomfort is essential to restoring balance and harmony within each of us. Her ideal client is someone who is committed to making a positive change in their lives, and is willing to actively engage in the process of therapy in order to do so. Lynell is particularly passionate about working with millennial women and creatives in the entertainment industry who struggle with feelings of inadequacy or "imposter syndrome."
Lynell's approach to therapy is an active and integrative one. She fuses together various western and eastern modalities including mindfulness, art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and self-compassion to support her clients in ultimately restoring balance and alignment in their lives. Additionally, she specializes in art therapy, a modality that integrates creativity with traditional talk therapy. Art therapy is an evidence based approach to therapy that combines psychological theory, creative expression, art-making, and the experience of being human. The therapeutic relationship acts as a container to hold the exploration of negative beliefs, traumas, attachment styles, and the like, through art. There is absolutely no experience required to engage with the process, simply an open mind and a willingness to explore your inner world through a non-verbal lens. For more information about Art Therapy, please feel free to contact Lynell directly.
Lynell received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and went on to receive her M.A. in Psychology from Phillips Graduate University with a specialization in Art therapy. In 2019, Lynell obtained her clinical license, and in 2020 she obtained her art therapy registration. Lynell has over 6 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and individuals.
Lynell is currently not scheduling any in-office appointments, however she is accepting new clients for tele-therapy.
