Professional statement

You are so done with having to drag yourself out of bed, drinking 10 cups of coffee just to feel something, and giving self-inflicted pep talks that don't friggin' work!

Maybe your friends and family don't even notice and they think you're doing GREAT! In reality it’s a struggle to keep it together. You’re white knuckling it and somehow managing to save face.

What if life could be gentler and more stable? What if you didn’t have to feel on edge or down and out all the damn time? What if you could feel more connected to the people you care about?

If you’ve made it here, you’re ready to work through what’s bothering you so that life can feel less painful. Whether you’re going through trauma, anxiety, depression, or relationship issues you’re in the right place.

When we experience hurts in the past or even now, we can get stuck. A collection of hurtful experiences can have compounding effects, like changes in your mood, such as anxiety or depression. These experiences can also form unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. And often enough, some of that chaos going on inside spills into our relationships.

In sessions we’ll use fancy techniques like EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and more to take down the intensity of what you’ve been feeling so you can experience yourself as more grounded. We’ll use those therapies and some dark, sarcastic humor too - you know, that stuff that other people look at you sideways for. It’s welcomed here in the therapy room! Together we’ll work to bring your mind and the things you do into alignment with your goals.

The next thing you know you'll be handling challenges with more ease, be able to respond instead of reacting, and experience more joy in your life.

Message to clients

We’ll start with a free 30 minute consultation where we’ll get to know each other, either by phone or video. All virtual platforms are HIPAA compliant or have lots of layers of security to protect your confidentiality. The consultation is a time for us to figure out if therapy is right for you, if online therapy is going to work, and if therapy with me is the best fit for you. You’ll tell me something about what’s been bothering you and I’ll ask some questions. Whether or not you end up in online therapy with me, we’ll find the resources for your unique needs.

Should we decide online therapy with me is a good match, we’ll set up your first virtual appointment. This meeting is a 90-minute version of our consultation. We’ll continue to get to know each other, and I’ll ask lots of questions. At the end of this appointment, we’ll decide on realistic goals, how often to see each other, and what mix of therapies will suit your experience best.

We’ll typically meet weekly for 50-60 minute sessions after that, especially to start. This way we get some work under our belt to create more stability in your life. Once you start to feel more grounded or begin to see improvements, we may decide to see each other less and less over time. The goal is not to be in therapy forever, as you’ll feel more and more confident in your ability to fly solo.
